Day #1: Puppy Training-Select Training Method

Day #1: Puppy Training-Select Training Method

Select a training method or trainer you want to use:

  • We choose Doggy Dan and online vs. live dog trainer. His online dog training video program. $1.00 for the first 3-days, $37.00 per month and cancelable any time. I personally love to use easily accessible resources and it is my opinion, we humans need to learn how to better utilize the resources we have. I bring this up only to show the importance of being consistent with our methods. These are ALL things Doggy Dan and any great trainer or facilitator would model and emphasize.

Stop everything and first learn to be the pack leader: Learn Doggy Dan’s five golden rules. I will not present the rules instead outline what I got out of it:

  •  I will not elaborate on the five golden rules because I honor copy written materials.
  •  What I will say is, we need to think like the creature we are training. If a dog, think like a dog. If a human, think like a human.
  •  We must establish ourselves as the pack leader. Dogs are 99% wolves whom live in a pack. Human’s need packs also, even though we are not wolves. Human’s need those they can model proper business behavior the same as dogs.

Test the Theory’s Learned:
My wife and I have screwed up in the past with our dog training. We did every think wrong. We started out on the wrong path. Why? Because always we used to associated the puppy’s behavior with human behavior. In addition, we were not a consistent team of pack leaders with our approach with the animal. Finally, we broke our own rules.
So, this time we let the puppy sleep with us, WRONG. This evening however, we put the puppy in its fenced area. This was a large, but not to large area fenced in with a sleeping crate inside. With this puppy like, a new employee, it has not yet learned bad behaviors. As expected and predicted, he puppy cried for 45 minutes, did not get the reaction gotten before and went to sleep. With a human example; when they complained about a problem, we seemed to always fix it instead, of encouraged self-research and improvement. Training is training!!!!
