Facilitation Skills

The Art of Facilitation

Overview: The Art of Facilitation is really all about effective communication with a group of participants. A facilitator develops, as well as, prepares specific agenda and/or learning objectives that need to be internalized by the group.  Through the use of the "Adult Learning Philosophy" of: Tell Me; Show Me; Let Me Practice; and Test Me, the facilitator leads the class to draw to consistent and predetermined conclusions.

Unlike training, facilitation is less tell and more "Guided Discovery". Simply stated, most people would internalize concepts better when they draw to the conclusion naturally rather then being told the information in a lecture.  This brings us to the essence of what this three-day class is all about.  The overarching goal is to teach skill sets to future facilitators to enable their participants to more effectively internalize the curriculum being presented.

Concept: Less Tell, More Sell is the goal of this class.  We develop the focus that if we distract from the curriculum, it takes away from the participant’s ability to internalize the lesson. The facilitator is not the expert, they are the guide to allow the participant to improve their skill sets.  At the end of the day, the participant begins to realize that he has truly internalized the curriculum given.  This class gives the future facilitators the needed techniques to accomplish this challenging task.
